This Week’s Escape Inspiration:
David Cole
Cruise Director, Sapphire Princess
“People who know me know I’m a Hawaii enthusiast. I highly recommend taking a helicopter ride to put the natural beauty of the islands in a whole new perspective.”

David,
Do so wish you are going to be on the Golden in September 26th for our cruise from Los Angeles to Hawaii and back. Your Hawaiin program is outstanding on those wonderful sea days going over and coming back. You will be missed.
Dave,
You are missed on the Golden. Now I’m forced to “go to the other ship”. I hope to see you again.
NO NO NO DAVID… say it isn’t so!!!! PLEASE be back on the Golden in the fall… we too will be sailing on September 26th to Hawaii (our 6th Hawaii cruise), and it just will not be any good without you… can we start a petition??? Count me in!!! Your knowledge of everything Hawaii is unsurpassed and unequaled. Everything you do is absolutely incredible and you are the best ambassador for Princess we have ever found. You are truly a credit to the cruise industry. Hope we won’t have to “wish you were here” and we’ll see your aloha smile when we come aboard…
You made our cruise experience so much fun! You taught me to play the ukelele and were so knowledgeable and patient! I hope to have the opportunity to sail with you again. Mahalo
Aloha, David, you ARE Mr Hawaii!!! We’ve done the cruise with/without you – WITH you is the only way! Unfortunately, our group planned it’s reunion ONLY on the Golden because of you, but Princess didn’t consult us before they moved you to the Sapphire – DARN! They could at least have waited until the end of the spring Hawaii season! DEFINITELY, your program is awesome, and I have been recommending it ever since the lst time!
Thank you for sharing your goougres photos. I love the lone palm tree on the black sand beach. As a geologist, seeing molten lava is on my list of 100 things to do before I die, so one day a trip to the big island will happen!
David
have over 23 cruises with Princess. Best Cruise Director ever. Hope we meet again on another Princess Cruise
Lets see, you posted this 10 hours ago. So by now you are in Miami. But to ansewr your question for future reference, just go from the airport to the ship and when you get there the ship’s porters will be available to take your luggage so it can be put on the ship and taken to your cabin. Plan to tip them about $1. per bag. Then just grab the same or another taxi back across the causeway to town. You need to know where you will want to be dropped by the taxi but downtown is right across the causeway from the pier too far to walk. Then remember that you will need to be back at the ship at least 90 minutes before the scheduled departure time. Actually, you can board the ship as early as about 11:30 to noon.
Sailed with David & Martin 2002 R/T Hawaii. What a team. Not stop fun. I am sure Dave is just as good now.
of course it can! doing what this guy does is lnivig life to the fullest for some people, and im sure he enjoys what he does, why else would he be doing it? I just thought id share my opinion that sure tv and video games are great once and a while, you need time to chill. However, making the most of your life doesnt always have to require book-smarts and school knowledge .
Dave Cole, cruise director, put together the most wonderful 100th birthday celebration for my aunt, Vera, on the Sapphire Princess on March 1, 2012. Dave gave us a dvd of the Wake Show where he interviewed my aunt on her birthday as part of the celebration. After we got home, she loved to watch the dvd, over and over, and shared it with her friends and visitors. She passed away peacefully at home on March 23, 2012. Thanks, Dave, Rachel, Rui, and other Princess staff, for making my aunt’s 100th birthday celebration so special. Here is a 2 minute slideshow of Vera including several photos taken while onboard the Sapphire Princess:

Lots of love, Vicki. I was an honor and a privilege to be part of such a big celebration!
I was on the March 10 cruise with David to Hawaii. This was our eighth Princess cruise and also our best. David and his brothers (there had to be more than one of him because he was everywhere day and night) helped to make it the best.
Thanks David
Please, please, PLEASE tell me the rain will be gone by the 1st! We’ll be flnyig into Maui (aren’t you in Hawaii?) then and we have been truly vacation cursed in the past. I don’t even want to think about inclement weather where everyone has told me, It’s ALWAYS beautiful in Hawaii. Why yes, in fact, I do expect you to be a weather psychic!
Dave is the best!!!! We are going on the Sapphire this Oct. 20th but understand he will be on a much deserved vacation. Our loss. We’ll miss you Dave, you make a cruise extraordinary.
JoAnn & Jim – my loyal Hawaiian enthusiasts! Have fun on the 28-day cruise, and I’m sure our paths will cross again. A hui hou, malama pono.

You are our very FAVE cruise director!!!!! You were away on vacation for two of our Hawaii cruises and we were miserable without you. You are at least five wonderful talents rolled into one. This year we plan to do the Hawaii Thanksgiving cruise on the Star from San Francisco and will be missing you for the third time. We envy the LUCKY passengers on the Sapphire. BTW love the moustache!!
Mahalo for all the kind words, everyone! Aloha nui!
Hi David, just wondered if you would be our C.D. in March 9 on the Sapphire to Hawaii ? If not do you know who it will be ? Take care & happy sailing !
Hi Dave,
I enjoyed taking ukulele lessons from you on our cruise to Hawai’i on the Sapphire Princess. Would it be possible to have you email me your booklet “Let’s Play Ukulele” since I teach many of my friends and JROTC cadets? Your teaching method is awsome and the booklet is spot on. Thanks.
Jay
David,
Are you going to be the cruise director on the Sapphire for the Oct. 20 sailing? My husband is ready for more ukelele lessons. We were on the Sapphire last November to Hawaii.
Hi Dave,
Having just finished the Hawaii cruise, we were watching the Hula Masters and Ukulele Masters on the Onboard DVD and I was thinking about how great it was to be a part of that wonderful Aloha show. Your singing was superb for that show!! And you have such generous soul that you handle so gracefully. Barb and I enjoyed the Ukulele classes so much, Dave … and we just wanted to tell you how great it was to participate. We are both educators: she is a grade one teacher and I am a professor of education in a university faculty of education. We were both very impressed with your “educative” presence on the ship and wanted to let you know how much we appreciated this, your energy and enthusiasm for passengers, and particularly the wisdom you share about living Aloha. Full marks!!
Hi David ! We have never been fortunate enough to have you as our Cruise Director. We have read & heard you are their best, especially to Hawaii. We will be on the Sapphire March 9,2013. Will either you, or Billy Hygate be our CD ? We love Billy, but would love to meet you as well. We have heard so many nice things about you. Awaiting your reply, happy cruising ! Monty & Hope

Hi David, just got back from the Sapphire princess Cruise to Hawai’i. Our First time to Hawai’i and first time on Princess. Very impressed with both and you were the icing on the cake! Loved listening to your knowledge of the Ports we were visiting and you taught us some new words in the Hawaiian language. Do not know where you get the energy you were everywhere. Since it was our Anniversay you and Princess made it even more special.
David – We will be on the Golden for the 1/16 sailing to circle Hawaii. Our intention is to arrange for us to get married on board the ship while at sea. Just a simple “I DO” at a formal dinner maybe at the captains table. No pictures, or falderol, just a fun little “I DO”. If you can assist in arranging this, please let me know.
